In Parts 1 and 2 of each chapter, students read stories involving two American detectives. Reading and vocabulary skills are taught in conjunction with the story. In Part 3, there is a nonfiction reading on the chapter theme, with cross-cultural information followed by discussion questions. Part 4 of each chapter emphasizes writing skills, with a variety of exercises and interactive writing activities. Additional Highlights "Picture Clues" - a prereading/prediction exercise based on illustrations. "Can You Figure it Out?" - questions that focus on the cultural point of the chapter and bring students closer to solving the mystery.
