Somayaji is a title within the Smarta Brahmin community for those that perform the Somayaga srauta ritual, or descendants of such people. The surname is most commonly seen among the Tulu Smarta Brahmins, Nambudiri Brahmins from Kerala,Tamil Brahmins, and Telugu Vedic Brahmins.
